March 16th, 2010 How much would it cost to hire someone to design a website for me?
I want to create a website to showcase my writing samples. In the past, I’ve done copywriting and corporate communications work. I really don’t need an elaborate site…I just want people to be able to click on my attachments and see my samples. I made a site through Microsoft Small Business, but it looks awful since the template they offer is so rigid and doesn’t give a lot of options.
I really cannot spend much money on this, but since my needs are simple, how much would it cost to hire someone to do maybe an hour or two’s worth of work (I presume) just to create a basic site?
David – Well, how much would a designer charge per hour? I can’t say exactly how long it will take, but I doubt very long at all…my needs are pretty simple.
Try Odesk.com. It’s a website where you can post a job and can hire people to do things for you, like computer programming. I think it’s free to post and it’s available to everyone around the globe. It’s a website that offers availble jobs for outsourcing multiple things for freelancers and even IT companies. Check it out.
I believe you can also post duties that you offer for those looking for freelancers to search and hire them if interested.
Alternatively, you can use a company or a sub-contractor, but you’re more likely to spend more money and they can be pretty expensive.
If you don’t feel like hiring someone, try www.sites.google.com. It’s a quick, free (I think) and easy way to create a site and monitor it.

It will cost whatever you are willing to pay.
A good designer would charge by the hour.

As a web designer myself, it would really depend on what you require. From your question i’m assuming that you just need a basic website which showcases your work. I would say about £30 – £50 would be a suitable price. Good luck!

It really depends on who you hire and how much he/she charges and what their contract states. Some web designers may charge per page or by the hour. Also, the cost may also depend on what type of features you are looking for.
Good luck!

Hi, I am a 17 year old web designer – I will create a website for you if you want for a very reasonable price – I can offer you a good price compared to other designers because I am not able to promote myself as having many years experience and I am therefore just trying to get myself known in the web design world rather than trying to make a living from it at the moment. Of course I completely appreciate the fact that you may not want me to design your site as I have not got a great deal of experience under my belt – but I can easily create a basic site for you so please consider it – and you will be under no obligation to purchase the site from me if you don’t like what I have made. If you are interested please email me – my address is tom.kenning@gmail.com – please tell me exactly what you want, in as much detail as possible so I can consider if I am definitely able to do it, and give you a quote if I can.

About 200 dollars per page for a professional site.
You can also make your own website, learning HTML and CSS is easy and the results can be quite fun and satisfying.

Some designers charge a flat rate for a site, others hourly. A fair hourly price for a web designer is $25-35.

Some designers charge per hour. Some per page. Some per package. It depends how much you want to spend. If you hire a freelancer, it’ll be cheaper than website companies. My company charges $800 for a fully customized website. Free hosting for 3 months. You can check out our site and use some of our work as your benchmark. just for a basic site for a freelancer, i’ ll say it’s worth $20-$50 in all. don’t go cheap, if you are serious of your work, let your site speak for you and your work.

Can I ask why this has been copied from Yahoo Answers? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090122112746AAfdLEj Also, I’d like to point out it’s a bit out of date now since the post times shown are not when they were actually originally posted to Yahoo Answers. I am Tom K who wrote one of the posts, I am no longer 17 – I do still design websites (see tomkenning.com) but not necessarily for free anymore.
