March 31st, 2010  How To Add Affiliate Marketing To You Business

If you have a website for your business one way you can make more money with is it to add affiliate programs. This is called affiliate marketing and is so easy to do any business can do it. In this article we will look at what affiliate marketintg is and how you can add it to your business to increase your bottom line.

An affiliate marketing progam is where you get paid to sell other businesses products. In general you join an affiliate program that relates to the theme of your website. You are given an i.d. number which identifies you as an affiliate for that program. You can then use marketing materials provided for you to help sell their products. This can be as easy as placing an affiliate banner embedded with your affiliate i.d. right on your website. When someone clicks on the banner they are taken to a web page of the merchant and you have a chance to make a sale and earn a commission.

The commission for affiliates is generally based on cost per click, cost per lead or cost per sale. Google Adsense is an example of a pay per click affiliate program. You place Google script on your page which generates a list of advertisers for your visitor to view. When they click on an ad you make a commission.

Pay per lead is when you get paid to generate leads for companies. This can be nothing more than getting a name and email address. With pay per sale you get paid a percentage of the cost of the sale. Information products are great for this and affilitate programs like ClickBank offer thousands of digital products ready for you to sell.

Affiliate programs are easy to join and most of them will pay you on a monthly basis for selling their products. If you already have a webiste that gets traffic adding a few affiliate products to your site is a great way to offer more to your visitors and create an additional income stream for yourself. The key is to join affiliate programs that are relative to the content of your site. Because this does not require any money on your part to get started affiliate products are pure profit.

Most affiliate programs offer many differnet types of marketing materials to help you sell their products. This could include banners, email marketing messages, graphics, branded eBooks, solo ads, classified ads, and even marketing tips on how to sell their products.

If you do not have a website affiliate marketing offers a great way to start making money on the internet because you are given your own affiliate website and marketing materials to promote it.

Is there a way to know how many sales I make in affiliate marketing business?
Hi. I am an affiliate of several companies that sell products and services. My question is how do I know if I made any sales? These organizations claim that they attach cookies to visitors that come from my site and if they buy their product/service I get paid. What if i make 10 sales but they only tell me that I made 1? Is there a way to check them? I don’t want to get ripped off for my efforts. Is there some kind of tracking device?

If you’re dealing with reputable companies, don’t worry. They’re more than willing to pay you a few bucks to keep the program attractive to you and others just like you.

Some companies use promotional codes to identify which affiliate send the business their way. The problem with these programs is that your friends might forget to insert the promo code. If the program also gives your friend a discount, then she is highly motivated to insert the code. Try to select these.

It isn’t in anybody’s interest to cheat you or other affiliates. Publicly traded companies must prove that they have adequate controls of all their financial dealings, and this would just be one of the items that would have to pass that test. If you’re working with a small, privately-held company, it’s possible that the controls aren’t there. But, these companies need you far more that the big boys do, and they know that making sure you earn good dollars is the best way to keep the sales rolling in.

My affiliate program shows me each click, and I advertise through PPC and through links that go through websites that I own, so I can see where each click comes from.

They would have a hard time cheating us as they could never know if you were sitting with a guy making an actual sale, and if they didnt credit you, they would be busted. Your Affiliate program should show you actual IP addresses of purchasers and referall stats.
