I’ve just been emailed this, does anyone know if this is true or is it a hoax ?

It is unreliable, at best. The format of the email is basically the same as phony emails telling you you’ve won some prize from someplace even though you never entered a contest.

So, lipstick may indeed contain lead, but this unsolicited email is probably not to be trusted.

Check the Wikipedia entry on lipstick… if there’s ever a controversy about the subject, Wikipedia will probably let people know about it. Also, check the other site.

It’s not impossible that some lipstick does, did, or will contain lead. After all, many things that we use on a daily basis probably cause cancer. But these things have not been proven, and in particular, this assertion about lipstick is unfounded.

Man, I never thought I would write so much about lipstick…
